ЗАГАДКА
Вчера я видел диво:
Древо Смерти.
На нем - растут десять пальцев на одной руке,
Десять ног и три глаза;
Вокруг него –
Вьется бесконечная дорога
И стоят курганы;
На нем – сидит старый ворон,
А под ним – седой волк (с человеческими глазами)
И старик под повешенным юношей;
Царит печаль и тяжелые сны;
Течет водопад, светит полная луна,
Преумножается магия, поэзия и одержимость –
Но все смирит Древовиселица волколака (Древо Славы)
И Шлем Страха,
Когда придет Дивный «Жадина».

Yesterday I saw the wonder:
the Tree of Death.
There grow ten fingers in it,
ten feet and three eyes;
round about it
runs the endless path
and mounds are;
there sits an aged raven in it,
but under it – a grey wolf
and an old man under hanged youth;
sorrow and heavy dreams reign;
a waterfall falls, the full moon shines,
magic, poetry and fury multiply –
but all will be reconciled by the Tree-gallows of werewolf (the Tree of Glory)
and a helm of terror,
when wondrous greedy one comes.
